Laura joined our team as the After School Adventure Director in August of 2018, and became the Children's Ministry Coordinator in April of 2019. Laura's background is in education, with her first job out of college being an after school teacher at a reading program, followed by a series of teaching and special education positions at various schools in Connecticut. During her time at Fordham University, Laura was involved in Retreat Ministry, was on the board of the United Christian Fellowship, and sang in the Gospel Choir.
Laura spends nearly 24 hours a day with children and is happy doing so. Whether it is with our nearly 100 students at After School Adventure, at a Homeschool Hangout, another Rockfish program, or at home with her son Nehemiah, Laura is surrounded by children and wouldn't have it any other way. In her spare time, you can find Laura playing, doing crafts, and going on adventures with Nehemiah

Joel has been a longtime member of the Rockfish Family. Beginning in 1999 Joel attended Camp Rockfish as a summer camper. Brought to Rockfish by his father, a Rockfish Staff member in the 1980's, this place runs in his blood. At age 16, Joel joined summer staff as a part of the junior staff program and then in 2008 became senior summer staff. After working at Camp for a few years, Joel took a year off but returned to camp in 2012 where he met his future wife, Jessie. From 2014 to 2016 Joel worked as the worship leader for Edonton UMC and for an environmental company Carolina Silvics. After feeling God's call to return to camp, Joel worked as leadership staff summer 2016. In July, he married the love of his life, Jessie, and in the fall became a part of the full time Rockfish Staff. Since 2016, Joel has worked in every area of Rockfish programming and loves to share in the joy of camp. He loves working with children year round through After School Adventure and Summer Camp as well as working with retreat groups!
Not only is Joel our full time Program Ministry Facilitator bus is also a part time minister to his congregation at Parkton UMC. When he is not working, Joel loves to spend time with his friends and family as well as play and travel with his band Driskill where he is a back up vocalist and drummer.

Justin joined the Camp Rockfish team in January of 2019 as an After School Adventure teacher, having previously attended camp as a retreat camper. During his time as a camper Justin had a blast and wanted to come back the next day. Justin also joined the Summer staff in June of 2019, working wherever needed, whether it's working program staff, working as a Day Camp counselor, or working as a Resident Camp counselor. For the past 3 years, Justin has spent his spare time volunteering at Mary MacArthur Elementary, and plans to continue volunteering at Lake Rim Elementary as well. Justin graduated from Gray's Creek High School in 2018 is currently attending FTCC working towards an Associate's Degree in General Education. He plans to continue his studies with a degree in Business so he can advance his career towards becoming a Camp Director.

Ciara joined the After School Adventure team in August 2018 and later began working retreats and Day Camp as well. Ciara is a natural athlete having played basketball at Fayetteville State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in December of 2018. Ciara has experience with both teaching and coaching, and has a nephew whom she is very close with. Ciara is the type of person who loves learning, so in her spare time likes to try new things. Ciara likes working at Camp Rockfish After School Adventure because she can stay active while fostering joy for children.
Jaime joined Camp Rockfish in May 2019 as part of the After School Adventure team, having previously attended retreats as a guest. Jaime is currently studying assistant physical therapy at FTCC. In her spare time Jaime likes to hang out with loved ones. She enjoys working at Camp Rockfish because she has fun with the kids and with the staff.
Ruben (AKA Roo) joined Camp Rockfish as a Summer staff member in 2019, having attended retreats as a guest in 2017 and 2018. Now, Roo is one of the “Three Amigos,” filling in many roles throughout camp, including being on retreat staff and being an After School Adventure teacher. Roo is a junior at Grace College of Divinity studying Christian Leadership, and is goal is to become a pastor. Roo has worked at another camp in the past and has been involved with student ministry at school. When he’s not working, Roo enjoys spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends. Roo enjoys working at Camp Rockfish because he can use the gifts God has given him in the context of youth ministry. He finds Rockfish to be a loving a safe place.
Ana joined the Camp Rockfish team as a Summer staff member and lifeguard in 2019. That Fall, she stayed on staff to work with the After School Adventure Program and with retreats. As of Fall 2019, Ana is a senior at UNCP studying psychology with a minor in criminal justice. She is a member of the sorority ZTA (zeta tau alpha), and is involved with the Circle K service club. In her spare time, you can find Ana watching Netflix and taking care of her Great Dane. Ana enjoys working at Camp Rockfish because she loves the kids and the staff, and loves having the opportunity to see the kids grow in Christ!
Jacob joined the Camp Rockfish team in June of 2019 as a Summer staff member. Now one of the “Three Amigos,” Jacob works in many areas of camp including After School Adventure, retreats, maintenance, and outreach. Jacob attends Grace College of Divinity where he is studying Christian Leadership. He also works with youth at Manna Church. In his spare time, Jacob likes to travel, socialize with friends, watch Netflix, and read his Bible. Jacob likes working at Camp Rockfish because he loves the environment, the staff and the kids. Being able to pour out what God pours into him is an honor, and he loves advancing His Kingdom.
Kaitlyn first visited Camp Rockfish as a retreat guest. She joined the team in January of 2019 as an After School Adventure teacher, later adding housekeeping and retreats to her duties. She even worked Day Camp in the Summer of 2019. Kaitlyn graduated from Liberty Christian Academy in 2018. She has held leadership positions in her youth group, preparing her well to lead youth at Camp Rockfish. In her spare time Kaitlyn enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling. She likes working at After School Adventure because she enjoys every day with the kids and enjoys being with her co-workers.
Our newest member of the After School Adventure team, Maribel joined Camp Rockfish in August of 2019. Maribel is devoted mother and a faithful Christian. She is a single mother of three children, and works tirelessly to support them. Maribel's background is in Early Childhood Education. She has had many jobs including being a Spanish teacher at a Montessori school, working with senior citizens, and working as an interpreter. In her personal time, Maribel enjoys being with her children, as family is of the utmost importance to her. Maribel loves all aspects of working at Camp Rockfish, and is especially talented at making connections with the children.
Bailey has worked at Camp Rockfish for multiple Summers in various roles, even filling in as the Day Camp Coordinator. Bailey joined the After School Adventure team in August of 2019, around the same time that she became the Youth Director at Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. Bailey never stops going. In addition to working at Chestnut Street and ASA, she works retreats at Camp Rockfish and is a student at Lee University. In her spare Bailey likes spending time outdoors and going on hikes. Bailey enjoys working at Camp Rockfish because of the connections she makes with children.
