Welcome to Resident Camp 2010!  We are extremely glad to present you with the programs for this year.  While many are old favorites, we have added some new programs that we are very excited to present.  Be sure to check them all out!

This summer, programs available for campers will be divided into four different groups.  The group your camper falls into will be decided by the grade they will be entering.  The four groups are:

  • Seekers (entering grades 2-3)
  • Trekkers (entering grades 4-6)
  • Explorers (entering grades 7-9)
  • Pathfinders (entering grades 10-12)

Certain programs are reserved for certain age groups.  Family Camp is open to campers of all ages.

Traditional
$440
Entering Grades 1 - 12

This is the classic camp experience rich in Rockfish tradition, touching on all aspects that have made Rockfish great over the years.  Campers will be able to participate in all that the camp has to offer.  Activities include swimming in the pool and playing on the lake toys, arts and crafts, high ropes, climbing tower and zip line, environmental education, sports, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, target sports (including archery and BB guns), skateboarding and more.  Of course, no Rockfish experience would be complete without going on the mud walk and trying some of our famous parflesnarf.  All campers experience daily, counselor-lead, small group devotions as well as large, all-camp worship sessions.  This is a great track for all campers, whether they have experienced Rockfish before or not.  The small group experience lends itself to a unique and rewarding experience every summer.  Join us and find out what Camp Rockfish is all about in 2010.

Weeks available for Seekers, Trekkers, Explorers, & Pathfinders:
  • June 13-19, 2010
  • June 20-26, 2010
  • June 27-July 3, 2010
  • July 25-31, 2010
  • August 1-7, 2010
  • August 8-14, 2010

Mini
$195
Entering Grades 2-3

This is an ideal introduction to summer camp for the young first-time camper.  In this 3-day track, campers will experience all that a traditional camp has to offer, but in a smaller package perfectly tailored for campers who have seldom, if ever, slept away from home.  They will be able to take part in most activities at camp, including canoeing, arts and crafts, fishing, mud walks and many more!  A smaller group size allows counselors to spend more time with each individual camper, and these well-trained counselors will also lead them in a devotion developed specifically for campers their age.  This track is excellent for those who are ready to make the plunge into a true sleep-away camp.

Half-weeks available for Seekers:

  • June 13-16, 2010
  • June 16-19, 2010
  • August 1-4, 2010
  • August 4-7, 2010

Water

Entering grades 4-9

You will be SOAKED with fun during this wet week of summer camp.  Water activities will FLOOD campers throughout their stay.  Campers will DRENCH themselves as they spend extended amounts of time on our LAKE toys, swimming POOL, canoes, kayaks and pedal boats.  Not only will campers be WET with activities, but they will also be SATURATED with their study of God, through daily small group devotions and large group worship experiences.  When it RAINS it POURS; this week culminates with a trip to Fantasy Lake, a local WATER park with a 6 acre man made LAKE with diving boards, WATER slides, pedal boats, trapeze swings and more!   SPLASH into summer with a week of WATER camp like no other!

Tent
$470
Entering grades 7-12

Children today have never known a world without video games, cell phones, internet and GPS.  The Rockfish Tent camp offers campers the opportunity to embrace a lifestyle without those amenities that we have all begun to take for granted.  Campers will hike into a remote location on Camp Rockfish property, where they will live in tents and cook all of their meals over an open fire.  Campers will learn outdoor living skills, as well as orienteering.  Participation in traditional Camp Rockfish activities will also be a part of their days.  Daily devotions will help center campers throughout their day as well as participation in large, all-camp, worship at the end of each day.  Campers will work as a team in their small group to accomplish the necessary tasks each day in order to sustain their lifestyle.  This camp stands to be as rewarding as it is challenging.

Week available to Explorers(entering grades7-9):

  • June 13-19, 2010

Week available to Pathfinders(entering 10-12):

  • August 1-7, 2010

Treehouse
$415
Entering grades 4-9

Sure traditional camp is fun, but who doesn’t want to get a different perspective on camp every once and awhile?  If you still want everything that comes with traditional camp, just in a different setting, try sleeping in our treehouses.  Perched twenty feet in the air on solid wooden beams, this program allows campers a unique viewpoint on every day camp life.

Week available for Trekkers(entering grades 4-6):

  • August 8-14, 2010

Nature camp is all about learning about God’s creation through hands-on activities and demonstrations.  Campers will learn several environmental concepts including: local flora and fauna, freshwater wetlands and ecosystems, astronomy, sandhills ecology, and forest ecology.  Campers will have a chance to dissect fish and owl pellets, learn how to use telescopes, and explore new ways to conserve our natural resources.  During their week stay, campers will get an opportunity to visit a State Park, a planetarium and spend the day with a North Carolina Forester!   This camp skillfully pulls together faith and science concepts into a hands-on, interactive, healthy experience.

Week available for Trekkers(entering grades 4-6):

  • June 20-26, 2010

Survivor
$470
Entering grades 7-9

No, not the TV show, this is at Camp Rockfish.  This is an incredibly unique camp for older, more experienced campers, looking for a challenge.  This camp is about roughin’-it and living off the land.  Campers will backpack into a more remote locations on Camp Rockfish property to spend most of their week.  The group will have to work as a team to accomplish pre-determined goals.  When campers reach their goal, a creature comfort will be rewarded to the group.  A group that works together and reaches all their goals could be living in the lap of luxury by the end of the week.  Can you push yourself to new limits?  Are you a team player?  Do you know when to lead and when to follow?  Are you a SURVIVOR?

Week available for Explorers(entering grades7-9):

  • June 27 -- July 3, 2010

Adventure Quest
$505
Entering grades 10-12

If regular camp life is too tame for you, then prepare to go wild.  Adventure Quest begins at Rockfish, with campers learning outdoor living skills and growing closer together through shared experiences.  Then, mid-way through the week, the group leaves for West Virginia on an adventure that will be remembered for years to come.  Through New River Outdoor Center, the group will climb Pilot Mountain and raft the whitewater of the New River Gorge.  What better way to experience God’s love than exploring His creation first-hand?
